The SCGA Junior Golf Foundation held its Mid-Year Scholars Reception at Old Ranch Country Club, where 30 SCGA Juniors turned scholars came together to share their journeys from the first semester of the 2024-2025 academic year. The reception brought together staff, volunteers, board members and peers for a heartening update on the scholars’ experiences, challenges and successes in their post-secondary educational pursuits.

All scholars in attendance gave insightful presentations on their busy lives, touching on their struggles with time management, balancing part-time jobs, collegiate golf practices, internships, academics and social lives. Despite the demanding schedules, many scholars shared their impressive grade point averages, showcasing their ability to excel academically while juggling multiple commitments.

Beyond the opportunity for students to practice public speaking, there was a fun moment to celebrate and sing “Happy Birthday” to scholar Ariana Perez, who rounded out the list of speakers for the afternoon.

To foster connections, a mix of scholars, staff and board members participated in a networking session, where the room was split into four groups.

The Mid-Year Scholars Reception was a fantastic afternoon that showcased not just the scholars’ hard work and accomplishments, but the sense of community and support that makes the SCGA Junior Golf Foundation Scholarship program so special.
