The SCGA Foundation’s Girls Committee hosted its first official outing on June 27 in Rancho Palos Verdes. Twelve girls from the G.A.M.E. Club attended a presentation by Shi Shi Putter founder and stylist Elizabeth Noblitt, who spoke about personal style, confidence and presenting oneself both on and off the golf course. As her program concluded, she asked each girl to write a note to themselves that would encourage continued building of their confidence. She collected the notes and told the girls she would mail them out the following week. Nine-year-old participant Shani received her card in the mail, and “has placed it in my golf bag to reflect when needed on the course.”
Following the program, the girls were paired with Girls Committee members and volunteers who served as mentors during a round of golf at The Links at Terranea. Foundation volunteer Dianne Kop shared her experience from the day. “Elizabeth’s personal development program was fun and meaningful,” said Kop. “Golf is always great fun, especially when you get to meet such lovely young ladies.
The next girls outing will be on Aug. 14 at Wilshire CC.
