Forty-five couples joined the SCGA Foundation at Terranea Resort on Friday for the second annual Couples Golf Getaway. The couples enjoyed a 9-hole scramble on the #2 ranked par 3 course in the country (as rated by GOLF Magazine) and then spent the evening and next day enjoying the five-star resort which is part of the stay-and-play package.
The donations from this event will benefit a number of junior golfers by providing affordable access to the game as well as assisting with the Foundation’s programs that emphasize education, such as the scholarship program. The Foundation would like to extend a special thank you to Teri Haack and Buddy Nichols of Terranea Resort, Charlie Davison, Todd Eckenrode and Andy Frank with Origins Golf Design and Bob Suppelsa for their hard work and generous contributions.
“We were thrilled to be a part of this very worthwhile effort in support of the SCGA Foundation,” said Eckenrode. “Our greatest challenge in designing the short course at Terranea was to appeal to the widest audience we could, from young to old, beginner to expert. In doing so, it reminded us of the values in learning this great game, and the life lessons it can teach our youth. We look forward to doing all we can to aid this tremendous organization in its goals.”
