The Southwest Los Angeles community (SWLA) has established a strong partnership with Project Blue- a Los Angeles based non-profit organization that unites police and communities around vulnerable youth to ignite transformational change for generations to come

Thus far, the SCGA Junior Golf Foundation has two introductory golf clinics- the first at Project Blue’s campus in Rancho Dominguez and most recently at Alondra Park Golf Course in Lawndale.

In total, 58 juniors attended the clinics and were exposed to the game of golf. In fact, for many juniors it was also their first time on a golf course! Both clinics incorporated fitness and teaching stations including putting and chipping.

Marc Maye, Executive Director of Project Blue and Founder of iPlay iLead Academy, shared about the impact of SCGA Junior and the program on the juniors.

“This partnership with SCGA has been extremely impactful and amazing! Golf is a sport that not many of our youth have been exposed to. Having access and the opportunity to not only learn about the sport but to actually come to the golf course and get real life experience has opened their minds to a different level. They now feel like they can try things even if they may seem out of reach. It’s created self-belief, self-confidence and self-love all because of the exposure SCGA has given them and the way they have poured into them and made it fun and enjoyable. Our kids will be back!”

SCGA Junior is looking forward to continuing this transformative partnership with Project Blue
