SCGA Junior recently hosted its first community event at Maggie Hathaway GC. Community events are intended to engage juniors, golfers, non-golfers, community partners, neighborhood families and organizational affiliates to grow the game of golf.

With the support of the Southern Area Youth Program Inc. and United States Golf Association, the Southwest Los Angeles community kicked off spring in style. SCGA Junior organized golf activities, a bunny petting zoo, arts and crafts, music, food and raffle prizes. Attendees were also able to strike a pose and snap a photo with the U.S. Open trophy, which will be awarded to the 2023 U.S. Open Champion at The Los Angeles Country Club in June.

SCGA Junior is now offering consistent golf programming for juniors ages 5-17 years old at Maggie Hathaway GC year-round. The upcoming Spring session is slated to begin on Sunday, Apr. 16 and will run concurrently for eight weeks. All skills levels are welcome! Check out SCGA Junior’s Player & Youth Development page for more information on classes, instruction, one-on-one lessons and competitive play. Financial assistance is available for any family in need.

SCGA Junior’s mission is to provide inclusive golf communities that allow juniors to thrive on and beyond the course. Free community opportunities are one of the many ways SCGA Junior is attempting to reach new families and bring the sport of golf close to home.
