To support its goal of teaching Southland juniors to make smart decisions both on and off the golf course, SCGA Junior has created an instructional program that will focus on just that: Golf and Decision Making. This program will begin at Pico Rivera GC, where more than 200 people gathered earlier this month to help kick off the program.

“We were thrilled to see so many people from the Pico Rivera community come out and support our new initiative,” said SCGA Junior Executive Director Kevin Gigax. “The kickoff was a great opportunity for the juniors in the program and their parents to meet our staff and become more familiar with our program.”

Whether or not the kids were signed up for the instructional program, all juniors in attendance participated in games and contests organized by SCGA Junior staff and Pico Rivera golf instructors. Stations included putting, chipping and driving. Joining in on the festivities was Pico Rivera Mayor Gustavo Camacho.

“We’re very excited to work with SCGA Junior on this program,” Camacho said to the crowd. “What they are doing for young people is fantastic, and we are honored to be the first city they work with in this capacity.”

This SCGA Junior Instructional program will launch in the first week of March with its first session, which will include eight weeks of lessons for just $8. Juniors involved with receive an SCGA membership, hat and t-shirt, and advance through different golf levels. Click here to learn more.
