The SCGA Foundation hosted its annual golf tournament Monday at Mission Viejo CC, raising more than $120,000 for a variety of the organization’s programs.

“Thank you to all of the Tournament’s participants and sponsors for their continued support and committment to the event and its mission,” said SCGA Foundation Executive Director Kevin Gigax. “Mission Viejo CC was a great host, and the money raised will help us further develop our programs to reach more and more Southern California youth.”

The day, which was presented by Callaway Golf, included golf for the tournament’s 96 participants and reception, which included guest speaker Mark O’Meara (pictured right with Foundation President Ed Holmes). The former PGA Tour champion engaged the reception’s 140 guests with stories from his prolific career, including a detailed portrayal of what was going through his head during his exciting 1998 Masters win over Fred Couples.

Also speaking during the reception was SCGA Foundation Scholar Desiree Dominguez, who shared with the group what the SCGA Foundation has meant to her.

“Receiving the SCGA scholarship has really changed my life, not only by helping me with my school expenses but also with a lot of other things,” Dominguez said. “At G.A.M.E. Club events we get to talk to different people and listen to their life stories and successes. This has truly helped me follow my own dreams.”
