Christian Lingamen, Development Coordinator and Integral part of the SCGA Junior Play Day Program, shares his highlights from the summer so far.

This summer has already been very eventful with back-to-back Play Days at The Los Angeles Country Club and Palos Verdes Golf Club. During our trip to The LACC, 15 juniors and scholars hit the links with very impressive rounds from Luke Johnson who shot -1 and Amber Lee who shot -5. It was great to see juniors and scholars connecting with The LACC members. Each young person gained not only a once-in-a-lifetime round of golf, but profound insight and career advice from their generous playing partners. One of the highlights was hearing directly from the juniors and scholars about what their favorite moments were and what they learned about their playing partners.

Another highlight from earlier this summer was our Play Day at Palos Verdes Golf Club. Together, 16 juniors and scholars played with 9 PVGC members. Beyond giving juniors their first experiences at beautiful courses across California, one of my favorite parts of Play Days is seeing how excited the membership is to play with our juniors. Palos Verdes member Uni Mayesh was very impressed playing with the Yang sisters and scholar Leah Garcia. “I hope to see them all on the LPGA Tour one day,” Uni said. The playday setup got competitive! With each group competing in one best-ball net tournament, we saw a back-to-back-to-back win for member Andre Vuilleumier and Scholars Max Sivongsay and Junior Valentina Huaman. A big thank you to PV member Nick Meter and board member Jeff DeLarme for hosting.

Player and Youth Development Director, Kaycee Wilk even made custom awards and ball markers to commemorate each Play Day.
